Director, Military Programs

The Position

ATAC has an opening for a Director of Military Programs. This is a full-time position and may be located at ATAC Headquarters in Santa Clara, California, or in Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated member of ATAC’s business development team and will provide high-level management of ATAC’s military aviation operations programs for Department of Defense clients and ATAC’s Testing, Research, and Engineering Team at the FAA’s William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC). Functioning within a small business, the ATAC Military Programs Director will be a key leader within the senior management team.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Development of military operations analysis and UAS engineering and operations support businesses through broad-reaching client interaction, partnerships, and thorough knowledge and creative application of ATAC products and services.
  • Seeking and maintaining intimate knowledge of military, other Federal Government, and private sector client and potential client operations support and analysis needs.
  • Senior management of military operations analysis programs including ATAC’s NASMOD modeling and simulation system.
  • Senior management of ATAC’s FAA WJHTC Testing, Research, and Engineering Team and other potential related Teams.
  • Company-wide proposal writing and support.
  • Representing ATAC in relevant government and industry meetings (e.g., RTCA SC-228)

Qualifications

ATAC is looking for a leadership and business development oriented person who will grow ATAC’s military and WJHTC business lines and become an active, key participant in ATAC’s senior management team.

Required attributes include:

  • A college degree in the area of operations research, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, statistics or related field
  • Ability to conduct engineering and planning analysis
  • Good PC applications skills with office tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Good written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency

Desirable attributes include:

  • PC programming experience (VBA, Perl, and Python)
  • A statistics background (R, Shiny)
  • Experience in air traffic control systems or as a private/commercial/military pilot.
