System Administrator

The Position

ATAC has an opening for a full-time System Administrator. This is a full-time staff position and may be located at ATAC headquarters in Santa Clara, California, the Washington DC area office or in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The successful candidate will provide system administration support for a government system for the collection, analysis and reporting of aviation data. The focus of this position will be on setup, deployment, performance monitoring, maintenance/upgrade, and troubleshooting/problem resolution of an existing set of distributed computers.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Setup, configure, test and deploy computers
  • Monitor computer systems operations; ensure system availability and data integrity
  • Develop and maintain system and process documentation, including inventory tracking
  • Provide level-one user support by phone and email

A background check will be required for this position.

Qualifications

Required attributes include: 

  • A BA/BS degree in engineering, math, or science and 15 or more years of related job experience
  • Strong installation, configuration, support and administration skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Desirable attributes include:

  • Broad Software Development Lifecycle background/experience.
  • Experience on FAA projects or programs pertaining to analytical and/or safety application development
  • Experience developing documentation for complex data systems
  • Knowledge of Sparc and Intel x64 processor based systems as well as Fiber Channel and iSCSI Storage Attached Network/Network Attached Storage environments.
  • Knowledge of relational database management systems such as Firebird, Oracle (10gR2, 11g, and 12C) and Postgres.
  • Knowledge of operating systems including VMWare, Solaris, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of software languages and technologies including Visual Basic (VB).NET, ASP.NET, MVC, C, C#, C++, Java, AngularJS, JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript, PHP, HTML 5 and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
  • Knowledge of Oracle WebLogic Topics, Solace Queues, Apache Kafka, Apache HornetQ, and Hibernate.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
  • Knowledge of Tableau, Subversion (SVN), and Microsoft.NET Platform.
  • Knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS) tools such as Oracle tools, PostGIS, OpenLayers and Leaflet.
  • Knowledge of FAA System Wide Information Management (SWIM) data services and other FAA air traffic data sources.
  • Knowledge of the current US air traffic management system
