The Position

ATAC has an opening for an Aviation Analyst. This is a full-time position and will be located at our headquarters in Santa Clara, California. The successful candidate will participate in the FAA’s NextGen initiative through the environmental analysis of airspace redesign utilizing AEDT (Aviation Environmental Design Tool), and other FAA tools. In addition, they will participate in applying, developing, testing, and maintaining state-of-the-art environmental (noise and emissions) software.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Airport and airspace noise and emissions analysis studies
  • Environmental modeling research projects
  • Algorithm development, assessment, and application to various projects
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of air traffic performance data
  • Aviation data verification and validation
  • Technical and management presentations
  • Technical report writing
  • Software development support (primarily in C#)

Required attributes include: 

  • A BS degree in aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering, operations research, applied mathematics, statistics or physics with 0-2 years of related job experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Familiarity with scientific programming and/or scripting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
Desired attributes include: 
  • An MS degree in aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering, operations research, applied mathematics, statistics or physics
  • Experience in conducting regional airspace redesign environmental analysis studies
  • Knowledge of physical acoustics, aircraft emissions, and/or aircraft flight performance
  • Experience in airport operations and air traffic management
